- Guam today passed a bill banning the sale, possession, and distribution of shark fins (FishNewsEU). This continues on the great success in the CNMI and the U.S. proper. Now we just need movement in Europe.
- House approved budget cuts would remove U.S. funding of IPCC, our climate negotiator, Todd Stern, and climate science budgets across U.S. agencies (BBC).
- Amazon deforestation has increased 1000% over last year (TreeHugger).
- The protests in the Middle East could drive oil up to $200 a barrel (Bloomberg). This is bad for short-term economics, and good for long-term growth and human survival – if we use this to push more renwables, that is.
