Ray: A Life Underwater

September 16, 2011

Like a modern-day pirate, 75-year-old Ray Ives has been scouring the seabed for treasure his whole life.  This video is an affectionate portrait of one man’s deep-sea diving career, told through his extraordinary collection of marine artefacts.

Here’s a great quote:

My life has been quite adventurous, really, cuz I’ve worked and traveled all over the world, and I’ve earned enough money to settle down and have an ice cream once a week and a pint of beer…[and] as long as I can still climb in and climb out, I’ll keep on doing it.
